Why Learn Marathi?

It's been couple years since we published list of reasons that we think people learn Marathi for. We also requested our visitors to share their own reasons for learning Marahti. Here are some of the most popular reasons that we have received so far.

I am learning Marathi because:

1. My spouse is Marathi.
2. I am in love with a Marathi girl
3. I am in love with a Marathi boy
4. I am a non-Indian visiting Maharashtra.
5. We are adopting a kid from Maharashtra.
6. I am doing social work in a remote area within Maharashtra.
7. I like this language.
8. I work in Maharashtra and so I find it convenient to speak with my colleagues in Marathi.
9. My mother tongue is Marathi but now I have forgotten it.
10. My ancestors are Marathi but now I am settled in a different country and now want to learn language of my ancestors.
11. I do business in Maharashtra and often I have to communicate with local community and state government authorities in Marathi.
